STARBUCKS EMEA | CONCEPT STORES 2011 - 2019
Driving innovation trough store design
Concept stores offer a unique opportunity to implement new ideas, try new products and services and new ways to connect with customers.
Store Design and Brand Innovation doesn’t work in splendid isolation. You constantly need to implement blue-sky concepts and test new strategic programs in actual stores. Concept stores and new market openings are a great platform to implement and test new ideas. By doing so you can constantly improve the customer and brand experience; learn from the good and bad and to re-use the ideas that worked in the next generations of stores - or turn them into new store design programs. These projects involve extensive cross functional collaboration, passionate and creative designers that are willing to go the extra mile(s) and lots of conversations to convince those stuck in their way of thinking.
2017 - Starbucks Coffee Suite, Four Seasons Hotel Kuwait
Set in the lobby of the Four Seasons Hotel this tiny store offers an inclusive experience in an exclusive high end environment. A store that celebrates the time, effort, the love and passion that goes is needed to get from a raw coffee cherry to a fine espresso.
2016 - Starbucks XP, Canary Wharf London
A store format designed for people on-the-go who want Starbucks products, coupled with the efficiency that comes from knowing what they want. This store offers a welcoming environment with the barista and customer at its heart and couples it with a smarter customer journey that is enabled by new technology (mobile order and pay and early order point)
2018 - Starbucks Reserve Bar Forum, Kuwait
We redefined the Starbucks coffee and food experience at this high profile location in Kuwait. Introducing a new bar lay-out that elevated the customer experience and combining Starbucks core product offerings with elevated Reserve beverages.
2016 Starbucks the Pavilion - Schiphol Lounge 2
The biggest store at this busy airport is inspired by Dutch design and architecture and designed as a pavilion - a social place or an object of pleasure and relaxation. A big roof structure, that can be seen from all angles of the airport lounge, organises several big objects (the retail lobby, the bar, seating areas, the workroom) and divides the large space in more comfortable areas, creating a welcoming and relaxing environment - a moment to escape from the hectic airport environment.
2015 - Starbucks Reserve Bar USML, London
No ordinary Starbucks, there's no queuing at this store and you can get a beer or glass of wine in the evenings. With the discerning coffee drinker in mind, Starbucks Reserve on Upper St Martin's Lane has an open bar space surrounded by arena-style seating to enjoy the 'theatre' of coffee. Reserve coffees and the latest on-trend brewing methods - the Clover, Black Eagle, Syphon, Chemex and Pour Over - take centre stage at the store, the first of its kind in Europe. It's also the first Starbucks to serve freshly prepared food and customers don't queue, instead they can take a seat and order from wherever they are in store. Making use of the latest technology for payment, charging gadgets and remote working, they have the fastest WiFi on the high street.
