Using the power of design to actively bring to life the Starbucks brand promise "that caring for the environment is just as important as caring for Starbucks communities"


The Concept design team initiated and participated in cross-functional initiatives aimed at minimising Starbucks environmental footprint by building greener stores and reducing waste.

Working closely with the Brand Communications team, Strategic Programs, Operations, Sourcing and Supply chain we delivered solutions that met environmental goals and actively engaged the customers:

  • Rethinking how to reduce paper cup waste by creating solutions to collect, recycle and re-use Starbucks paper cups.

  • Collaborating with leaders in the field of circular design and engineering, like Miniwiz and Pentatonic to rethink ways to re-use post-consumer waste in the store environment.

  • Actively initiating and implementing design solutions that reduce environmental impact like mandatory Electric vehicle charging and using green roofs at Starbucks Drive Thru’s


2017 - Starbucks paper cup collection and recycling

Rethinking how to reduce paper cup waste by creating solutions to collect, recycle and re-use Starbucks paper cups.

2015 - Starbucks x Pentatonic

Collaborating with leaders in the field of circular design and engineering, like Miniwiz and Pentatonic to rethink ways to re-use post-consumer waste in the store environment. The partnership that was launched at the 2017 London Design Week.

2016 - 2019 Sustainable Store design

Initiated and actively ensured the implementation of design solutions that reduce environmental impact like: Electric vehicle charging, Green roofs, Circulair materials & Local and ethical sourcing of the entire EMEA catalogue.
